Wilford’s feeling much better today, now that he knows his week from hell is over. There’s a very big part of him that hates how he managed to get out of it in the first place, but it was rapidly becoming obvious that there was a zero chance of coming out of that path alive, no matter what he did. But that doesn’t take the sting away. He’s usually better than this. Problems don’t get the best of him the way this one did.
It’s under his skin, but in a way he can mostly ignore for now. He keeps telling himself that the story isn’t shelved for good; just until a new development comes up. He needs something more to go off of. That’s all. It’s not a forfeit. Just a time out.
Somebody’s bound to slip up sooner or later. Someone always does.
There’s another bright spot in all of this, though. Taking another path means changing entire time lines. Not pursuing that interview might have changed other things. If he’s lucky, it’ll even mean that Vyvyan fucker will leave him alone today.
One can only hope.
